Visit Geevor or Levant Tin & Copper mine, Cornwall's No1 Mining Centre, both within walking distance, and the largest preserved mining site in the UK. At Geevor you can take an underground tour, at Levant, experience the Beam steam engine. Pendeen has its very own lighthouse and you can walk to it from the cottage, on misty days you can even hear it boom. Ancient Monuments are easily found. Just 10 mins drive from the cottage, will bring you two of the most well known – Men-an-Tol and Lanyon Quoit, up on the moors where you can get the most wonderful views too.

National Trust properties abound, particularly Trengwainton Gardens at Madron and magical St Michael’s Mount in Mount’s Bay, Penzance, are nearby and wonderful places to explore. Galleries everywhere, painting, ceramics, sculpture, jewellery and more. Penlee House Museum in Penzance, features work from the famous ‘Newlyn School’ and Lamorna group of artists (1800-1930). Tate St Ives and the Barbara Hepworth Museum house exciting Contemporary Art collections, and are just another reason to visit the fascinating harbour-town of St Ives, a jewel in the rugged north coast.

A must is a visit to the atmospheric cliff-top Minack Theatre at Porthcurno (a beautiful beach here too). Experience Shakespeare, a musical or even a Roald Dahl story, in the open air, under the stars. And of course coves, beaches and harbours, what Cornwall is famous for. Portheras Cove is the nearest, a secluded sandy cove only accessible by foot. Sennen beach in Whitesand Bay, a world renowned perfect place for surfing the waves. Mousehole, just over to the south is a picture-perfect harbour, not to be missed. Pendeen, has an excellent Village Stores, Cafe, Fish and Chip Shop, Post Office, Pottery and a Farmer's Market held the first and third Saturday every month, all within three minutes walking distance of the cottage.
